YEAR 2020

This painting is very personal for the artist. Natasha painted ‘Everyday Heroes’ at the close of this tough year of 2020 during the time of Covid cases on the rise, times of change, uncertainty, and fear. The woman surgeon in the painting isn’t based on a real person, rather she was inspired by multiple people and the artist’s imagination. Her eyes look tired yet there is a sense of hope about her. She stands against a dark background, yet she is turned towards the light. Bold brush strokes and paint drips suggest the tumultuous times, but bright bursts of blue inject positive energy. This painting is dedicated to all everyday heroes of 2020 and celebrates all doctors, nurses, factory workers, store clerks, delivery drivers and everyone else continuing going to work while having to wear a mask. This painting is also dedicated to Natasha’s father, who is continuing to work through the pandemic and is one of these heroes. The highly textural canvas is hand-made by him specifically for the artist which makes this painting extra special. May all of our everyday heroes be safe.
