This artwork is all about symbolism and it was inspired by artist Max Ernst, a German painter, sculptor, graphic artist, poet, and a primary pioneer of the Dada movement and surrealism.
His paintings became increasingly rich in color and more detailed using runny paint over the canvas, then with a sheet of glass layered on top, creating surrealist, dreamlike shapes.
Surreal symbolism is a characteristic of my art form. A way to stimulate the flow of the imagery from the unconscious mind. This style gives me an immense rain of fresh freedom!
Let me tell you the 4 symbolic elements in my painting:
1. The visualization of a dark night, with the shadows and profundity in color. 🌌🌚
2. The romantic representation of a dream shaped to an androgynous subject dancing calmly. 💃
3. The floating piece of bread (bagel?) cut in a half almost looking like a human body. 🍞
4. The rotten tomatoes dripping red mushy juice, creating a puddle on the floor.
The latter represents a bloody wound that hasn't healed. 🍅
Another fun fact, mixing bread with tomatoes "pan con tomate" in Spanish is one of my favorite types of afternoon bite. I would die for it. 😜
I will be selling prints of this artwork soon! I am working on obtaining the best color and texture quality.
