"A Heavy Burden of Recording a Tradition Before it Dies," is a stunning work on paper by Los Angeles based artist, Dani Vinokurov. Vinokurov is from Russian decent, and connects with her heritage through this work on paper.  She records the Russian tradition of window decorating, nalichniki, by hand-cutting and sculpting a window of her own. Roots of the tradition grow from the edge of the window into a circle of hand-embroidered French Knots, representing the long tradition is grew from.  The flowers sprouting from the roots symbolize the fleeting moment of this tradition. Vinokurov worked on this piece for over 100 hours as everything is done by hand, no machine-work. This work is framed, mounted in a shadow box frame. Inquire for more work by Dani Vinokurov.
